In particular, the Staff of Passion4Fun had the opportunity to observe and judge firsthand the true value of Shohoriku’s work by unboxing the extraordinary limited edition Tekkaman 50th Anniversary Commemorative Statue.
Tekkaman 50th Anniversary Commemorative Statue
The animated series “Tekkaman, The Space Knight” (Uchu no Kishi Tekkaman) was produced by Tatsunoko Production and aired in Japan starting in 1975.
It later arrived in Italy in 1979, where it quickly became popular.
The series narrates the adventures of humanity in search of a new planet to inhabit after Earth was irreversibly devastated by pollution at the end of the 21st century.
Under constant threat from aliens from the planet Waldaster, humanity’s last hope for a new homeland and defeating the invaders is Joji Minami, the protagonist, capable of transforming thanks to the robot Pegas – built by his father before he was killed – into the mighty Tekkaman, a cyborg capable of fighting in the vacuum of space with nearly invulnerable armor and incredible weapons capable of defeating the alien threat.
In 2022, Tatsunoko Productions celebrated its 60th anniversary, and over the past few years, several productions from the historic animation studio have reached significant milestones worthy of celebration.
Among these, Tekkaman celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2025, an opportunity that Shohoriku promptly seized upon, creating a dedicated limited edition statue.
Announced with teasers in April, the statue was officially unveiled during the Golden Mecha Heroes Exhibition, which ran from May 1st to June 1st 2025, an exhibition held in Hong Kong at the Amaz by Lokianno center.

After immediately capturing the attention of fans around the world, the company released official images and details of the statue during the summer of 2025 in preparation for ACGHK 2025 (Animation-Comic-Game Hong Kong), another major exhibition event held from July 25th to 29th, where some copies of the statue were sold.

More specifically, the statue was meticulously crafted using a mix of high-quality materials, including PVC, PMMA, and PU, with great attention to detail.
Although not sculpted to scale, the proportions are similar to a 1/6 static figure, with the figure standing 30 cm tall including its base, measuring 26 cm long x 12 cm wide.
This commemorative statue, as mentioned, is a limited edition item, produced in just 150 numbered copies worldwide, each accompanied by its own certificate of quality.
50 units were sold at ACGHK 2025 at a price of HK$ 1,300 (approximately € 141).

Passion4Fun Exclusive Unboxing
Tekkaman is a true legend in the world of animation and, as such, has become part of our history and culture, becoming a pop icon recognized and beloved around the world.
Out of respect for this unwavering affection, the Staff of Passion4Fun was able to contribute to the celebration of this unforgettable legend through the exclusive unboxing of the statue crafted by Shohoriku.
The Box
The product’s presentation immediately gives the impression of a quality model, thanks to the elegant black packaging with a textured embossment featuring gold filigree lettering and designs.
The front features the 50th Anniversary logo of the series, the product name and a stunning profile drawing of Tekkaman’s head.
The back features the Shohoriku logo in the same pattern, along with some model details and the usual warnings.

As mentioned above, since this is a limited and numbered edition commemorative item, each copy comes with its own certificate of authenticity which includes its copy number.

Inside The Box
Once opened, we’re pleased to see that the contents are securely protected from bumps, knocks, and possible scratches by several layers of black foam, matching the color and elegance of the packaging.
Once the top layer is lifted, we find the main housing containing Tekkaman’s body. Above this, two additional foam pieces, molded to his shape, are placed for additional protection, with the statue wrapped in protective plastic.

Below, we find the third level of foam rubber where the rest of the pieces that make up the statue are contained, each inserted in its own housing and covered by the corresponding cutout of protective material and plastic casing.

Assembling The Statue
Once all the components are out of the box, the steps required to assemble the statue are simple and intuitive.
The base, whose glossy surface features a space-themed background full of celestial bodies, has several holes for inserting the various elements that make up the statue.
First, we need to insert the transparent support into the back of the base.
This element holds the Pegas robot figure, made of acrylic, with two ends that fit into the appropriate holes.
Once positioned, Pegas appears to lean slightly backward on the structure, lending an overall sense of three-dimensionality and depth to the composition.

Next, we proceed by fitting the statue to the base, matching the dowels under Tekkaman’s feet with the corresponding holes in the base.
The holes are wide enough to provide just the right amount of resistance, making the process smooth while also providing just the right amount of friction to secure the statue to the base.

To install the spear, simply insert the upper end of the Tek-Lancer into the open right hand.
The Tek-Lancer has a pin on the opposite side of the handle to attach the lower end.
It’s worth noting that, depending on your preference, you can position the spear frontally or by the side, adding a touch of customization to the sculpture.

To finish, we have to position the 50th Anniversary logo, also made of acrylic.
This too is a simple step: simply fit the piece into the appropriate hole.

The Statue
Once assembled, the statue conveys all the charisma and energy of the character, depicted standing in a proud pose with his left hand resting on his hip and the Tek-Lancer firmly gripped in his right hand.
The musculature is well-defined, the sculpt is clean and precise, and the glossy paint job is flawless and faithfully reproduces the Space Knight’s colors.
We realize that making as well a Pegas statue would have negatively impacted the final price of the model, which we recall is extremely competitive considering it is a numbered limited edition product, so we appreciate the decision to include the robot in the composition, choosing the right compromise.
Overall, the Tekkaman 50th Anniversary Commemorative Statue fully achieves its goal of paying homage to the character and the series, offering a product of the right size at a truly attractive price, resulting in a must-have collector’s item for all fans.

The Interview
As mentioned in the introduction, we offer you our exclusive interview with Ken Kwok, the Managing Director of Shohoriku Limited, whom we thank for this interview.
P4F Hello Ken, would you like to introduce yourself and Shohoriku to our
audience? Tell us more about yuor personal story and how Shohoriku came to be.
KEN I am Ken Kwok, i have around 30 years of experience in toys design,
development and production and i’ve been engaging in high end collectible toys
industries since 1999. From 2016 to 2025, I worked in a Hong Kong collectible toys company as CEO.
In this period of time, we have made a lot of articulated die-cast robots and anime
figures that popular worldwide.
However, I have left that company and started up my own company, Shohoriku, in
2025 to pursue my personal goal.
The goal of Shohoriku is quite simple, to make the toys that I wanted to have in my
childhood (fulfilling my wishlist) with cutting edge technology.

P4F Shohoriku treats different kinds of models, from model kits to action figures
and statues. What are your main products and their strong points?
KEN We have 2 main product lines.
The first one is “SAIGOKIN” (砌合金), in chinese the word “SAI” means
“to build” (砌) while the word “GOKIN” (合金) means “alloy”.
This product line offers consumers a dual experience: the joy of model building and the fun of playing with diecast articulated figures.

The magic lies in the robust construction design combined with simple sprue parts,
allowing customers to bring their creations to life in a unique and personal way.

The second product line is “ANITORI” – Extend our beloved Anime Story, that
features anime statues and figures, with Tekkaman as the debut item in the series.
Using the latest 3D technology and artistic modelling techniques, we’ve recreated a product that not only evokes nostalgic memories for fans but also elevates aesthetic satisfaction.
Our ultimate goal is to help fans fulfil the childhood dreams on their wish list.
P4F Let’s talk about your great Tekkaman 50th Anniversary Statue.
When did the project begin? How has it been to cooperate with Tatsunoko to live up to their quality expectations? Tell us also more about the development process.
KEN I have been in good relationship with Tatsunoko Pro for several years.
Last September, when I visit their Tokyo office to discuss about Gold Lightan
project, they initiate an idea to make something special to celebrate the 50th
Anniversary of Tekkaman.
Of course, since I love Tekkaman so much, I thought this was a very good chance
to make something special to indulge fans.
So I suggested to make a plastic statue with acrylic base.
Pegas is a must as it hasn’t been on a product for very long time.
And we made the deal very quick as both of us eager to do it.
However, the problem came up during the 2D design stage.
As the IP is long time ago, design asset is very limited to start with.

So I asked my designer to redraw the Tekkaman in front, side and back view
according to visuals and anime scenes.
However, no matter how look alike it is, it is not as attractive as what I have in my
mind. Finally, we chose to add a modern aesthetic element to recreate our hero –
Tekkaman. Every line, every contour of the muscle and armour have to be fine
adjusted. After several times of revisions, the 2D design is adequate to start 3D
model building.
That is another big problem, imagine how difficult it is to tell a 90’s young
people about how awesome a Tekkaman is. Although I have provide a lot of
reference materials for the armours, body shape and muscles, it is still not even
close to what I want.
Then I try to sculpt together with 3D sculptor, pointing out and modifying it line by
line, I do the pose for him easily comprehend the gesture, finally, I sculpted parts of the armours with clay to show the correct portion and design.
Finally, we made it and it is so awesome, that it is a true Tekkaman in my memory.

P4F As you might already know, the Tekkaman statue raised so much attention
among our fans and many contacted us about it.
We recently learned that Cosmic Group will import some copies of the statue, to be released around december 2025.
Can you tell us more about it?
KEN Yes, exactly.
After the excellent feedback, we discussed with our Italian distributor,
Cosmic Group, the possibility of making some copies available for pre-order in Europe in limited quantities.
As you know, we only made 150 pieces available worldwide.
I think we might supply Europe with around 30-50 pieces, It depends on how much demand there will be.

P4F Are there any plans for future statues or models related to Tatsunoko anime
series, like Casshern (Kyashan in Italy), Hurricane Polimar, Gatchaman
and Time Bokan?
KEN Yes, we are exploring any possible IP for this lineup.
Casshern is definitely one of my favourite IP. I think it is also popular in Italy too.

P4F Model Kits are now extremely popular, and your dedicated line “Saigokin,”
which you mentioned earlier, is really promising.
Can you tell us if we’ll see other mecha and robots from licenses not related to
Tatsunoko in the future?
KEN Yes. We have confirmed to have more IP from other licensors.
I can tell that we are prioritizing on 80’s anime IP.
As these IP is also my own wish list.
I always say I am now doing a “childhood wish list completion” project.

P4F Would you mind please to share with us and our audience something regarding your future plans and projects?
KEN At this moment, I cannot share too much confidential things. However, when
you browse our Facebook, you will know my childhood wish list. So future plans will be all about these.

P4F Thank you very much Ken for your time.
KEN Thank you so much.
