Shohoriku: Saigokin Science Ninja Team Gatchaman Fighter - Gatcha Spartan

Shohoriku has officially announced the new model kit in the Saigokin line of the Gatcha Spartan from Gatchaman Fighter, officially licensed by Tatsunoko.
The Saigokin line aims to offer consumers a dual experience: the joy of building their own model and the fun of playing with die-cast metal figures.
The company offers a model kit with alloy parts featuring a robust construction design with easy-to-remove sprues, allowing fans to bring their creations to life in a unique and personal way.
“Science Ninja Team Gatchaman Fighter” is the third series in the franchise, a direct sequel to Gatchaman II, produced by Tatsunoko in 1979 and consisting of 48 episodes.
The Gatcha Spartan is a high-speed aircraft used by the team after the destruction of the New God Phoenix and, unlike the previous vehicles, is the fusion of the team’s five mechs.
For countless anime fans, the Gatcha Spartan is much more than a fighting machine; it is a symbol of courage, teamwork, and victory. The thrilling scenes of the five individual vehicles instantly uniting into one powerful machine have captivated an entire generation.
Its most iconic moment, when the entire machine glows red in preparation for the five-unit combination, has become one of the most unforgettable images in the history of sci-fi anime of the 1970s and 1980s.
Building on the innovative concept of the Saigokin line, the Shohoriku development team conducted extensive research into the original animation settings and mechanical details, faithfully recreating the combination mechanism, mechanical structure, and iconic on-screen performances of the Gatcha Spartan.
From admiring each vehicle individually to completing the spectacular five-unit combination, each step offers a rewarding hands-on experience and a true sense of accomplishment.
This is more than just a model kit: it’s the experience of personally completing a legendary combination.
The impressive model is composed of the 5th G-Unit assembly and also includes a miniature of Ken Washio (Eagle Ken) wielding the Gatchaman Fencer sword, which can be placed atop the Gatcha Spartan to recreate Hypershoot mode.
Every detail, from the nose profile and wing contours to the individual vehicle combination structure, has been carefully considered and refined to accurately capture the heroic presence seen in the anime.
Measuring approximately 20 cm in length, the model is compact, detailed, and fits comfortably in one hand.
Whether displayed in a display case, on an office desk, or in a personal collection space, it offers the heroic presence of the Gatcha Spartan in a format perfect for collectors.
Of course, the Gatcha Spartan can be separated into five independent vehicles, each with its own distinctive appearance and special accessories.
Collectors can admire each vehicle individually, then relive the excitement of the anime by assembling all five units in their legendary combined form.
The combination uses numerous magnetic components and an interlocking connection system to securely connect and lock the five vehicles, making both separation and combination intuitive and enjoyable.
Combined with the unique concept of the Saigokin line, the Shohoriku model offers the satisfaction of building a kit while maintaining the solidity and robustness typical of collectible alloy models, creating a completely new collecting experience.
A miniature of Ken the Eagle is included, allowing collectors to recreate iconic piloting scenes by placing him atop Gatcha Spartan to reenact the Hypershoot sequence.

As if that weren’t enough, the Gatcha Spartan is molded from white plastic treated with a special UV-reactive pigment.
Under UV light, the vehicles gradually transform from white to red, perfectly recreating the iconic red body configuration seen in the anime just before the five units combine, recreating the exact moment before the Gatcha Spartan’s combination is completed, ready to launch its most powerful attack.
In detail, the package includes 5 sets of pre-assembled parts, 1 set of die-cast metal parts, the static Eagle Ken miniature, and instructions.
The model will be available for pre-order in a limited run of 500 copies at ACGHK 2026, which will be held from July 24th to 28th at the Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Center.
The model will be sold at a discounted price of HK$ 599 (approximately $ 76) for those who pre-order at the exhibition, with a release scheduled for August 2027.
